Evelyn Vovou is Assistant Professor of German Linguistics and German as a Foreign Language (DaF) Didactics in the Department of German Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics, with a dissertation focusing on linguistic ecology and symbolic competence in oral foreign language assessment. She teaches courses in Applied Linguistics, empirical language research, and foreign language didactics.
Her research and teaching interests include ecolinguistics, pragmatics, first and second language acquisition, foreign language learning, conversation analysis, and empirical research in Applied Linguistics and language education. Her empirical research primarily focuses on the comparative investigation of language use by foreign language learners and native speakers.
She is the author of a monograph and co-editor of an academic edited volume. In addition, she regularly publishes in peer-reviewed national and international journals and edited collections.She presents her research at numerous international conferences and congresses in the fields of Applied Linguistics and foreign language education. Since 2007, she has been a researcher with the Greek State Certificate of Language Proficiency (KPG), where she contributes to the development, evaluation, and quality assurance of language examinations, as well as to the training and professional development of examiners. She also serves as an international advisor to the EU-funded project "Enhancing Foreign Language Education Quality in Türkiye" and to the national project "Certification of the Electronic Greek State Certificate of Language Proficiency (e-KPG) for Grade 9 (2026–2030)". Furthermore, she actively participates in national and international research and cooperation projects, serves as a reviewer for scholarly publications, and is a member of several national and international professional associations in the fields of Applied Linguistics and foreign language education.
