Kosmas Raspitsos is Assistant Professor of Literary Translation and Comparative Literature in the Department of German Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He studied German Philology in Athens and Berlin and completed postgraduate studies in Translation Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He received his PhD in Philosophy from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i.Br. Dissertation title: The Latinization of Greek. Translation, Understanding, and Language in Martin Heidegger and Hans-Georg Gadamer. During his doctoral studies he was a fellow of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation. From 2019 to 2025 he taught in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Patras. He was also an academic fellow in the Department of German Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2016–2018). In addition, he worked as a German language teacher in secondary education and at the Hellenic Naval Academy. His research interests include hermeneutics, translation theory, philosophy of language, Greek–German literary and cultural relations, and the environmental humanities. Among other courses, he has taught Philosophical Hermeneutics, Philosophy and Literature, Translation of Literary Texts and Essays, German Romanticism, German Philosophy, and Philosophy of Culture and Religion, among others.
