Anastasia Daskaroli is Assistant Professor in Translation and Comparative Literature since 2010. She has been a Faculty Member of the Department of German of German Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens since 2003, when she joined the Department as a Lecturer.  Anastasia Daskaroli received her PhD in 1993 at Heidelberg University, Germany, where she was awarded a DAAD Scholarship (German Academic Exchange Service) for her studies. She holds a Bachelors Degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Her previous professional activities include her position as a Translator for the European Union (EU), Research and Teaching Assistant at Heidelberg University, German language instructor for foreign students (Heidelberg University and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and Greek Language Instructor at the Folk High School Volkshochschule Weinheim, Germany. She also taught German Financial Terminology at the Athens University of Economics and Business. Anastasia Daskaroli was recruited for the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994 as a special consultant for the Third Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union and continued to offer her services as a special consultant (until 1998) for European Union Affairs and later as an expert advisor (Directorate-General for European Union Affairs - Directorate for EU External Relations). The main focus of her current research interests is the influence of German writers on Greek thinkers and poets.
