Marios Chrissou is Professor at the Faculty of German Language and Literature at the University of Athens, where he works since 2001. His area of expertise is Linguistics and Didactics of German as a foreign language. He completed his studies (Magister Artium) at the University of Essen and was awarded his PhD by the same university. From 1998 to 2000 he worked as a Research Associate at the Department DaF/DaZ (German as a Second/Foreign Language) at the University of Essen. In the academic year 2001-2002 he was employed as DAAD-Lecturer (German Service of Academic Exchange) at the Faculty of German Language and Literature at the University of Athens. Since 2006 he teaches Linguistics in the postgraduate Programme of the Faculty of German Language and Literature at the University of Athens. Since 2001 he is a tutor, since 2002 coordinator and since 2017 director of the Postgraduate Programme “Teaching of German as a Foreign Language” at the Hellenic Open University Patras (EAP). His research interests include Phraseology/Phraseodidactics and digital technologies in teaching German as a foreign language. He has published four books and numerous articles in these research areas, in local and international journals as well as in conference proceedings.
